GreenLAN®
GreenLAN® is a fiber-based concept based on passive components for networks in buildings, campus environments, industrial estates, and last but not least, I.o.T. (Internet of Things) environments. It is in terms of concept and technology pre-eminently the infrastructure of choice that will greatly contribute to the sustainability objectives of every company regardless of size.
In order to respond optimally to the ever-increasing demand for solutions with the focus on “sustainability”, Netways Europe has developed an infrastructural concept that has been marketed under the registered name GreenLan®. Sustainability is the aim to bring the harmful effects of human activities on the environment and raw materials back into balance.
With this in mind, Netways has looked at the following aspects during the development of GreenLan®:
- energy usage,
- not applying scarce raw materials,
- its environmental impact also during implementation,
- the extent to which the components used after use represent a burden on the environment and the possibility of reuse.
With the introduction of GreenLan®, sustainability is making its appearance in local networks.
Despite the fact that everything around us is changing rapidly, it is noticeable that the fixed network has hardly changed in terms of topology in the past 15 years. The only thing that has fundamentally changed is the bandwidth. And that while for other segments of the data communication energy-efficient, cheaper and simpler technologies were developed to contribute to a “greener” environment.
Key features of the concept are:
- Cloud based
- Central management
- Web-based management
- End to end single fiber based
- Redundancy
- Zero touch provisioning user units
- Flexibility
- Security
GreenLan® is a partly based on passive components, fiber optic concept for networks in buildings, campuses, industrial estates, but also for “highway” within I.o.T. (Internet of Things) environments. In terms of concept and technology, it is therefore pre-eminently the infrastructure of choice that will make a major contribution to the sustainability objectives of every company regardless of size.
The underlying technology is already being used extensively in optical fiber networks worldwide. Here it is known under the concept of F.t.t.H. (Fiber to the Home).
One of the most important features of this technology is that the core of the network consists of passive components that not only do not need power supply but also do not impose specific requirements on the environment where they will be placed. Basically, GreenLan® uses the same type of components that have been used worldwide for years in F.t.t.H. projects are applied, supplemented by a number of specific components, based on company networks, and software tools, without losing access to functionality with respect to the “traditional” network.
In addition to many others, one of the main advantages of GreenLan® is that the end-to-end uses only 1 glass fiber. With this, bandwidths of 10Mbps to 200Gbps are possible in any combination, and even more changing requirements and / or wishes are possible.
In addition to and through the simplicity of infrastructure, the concept also has the following advantages:
- Reliability
- Flexibility
- Less steam consumption
- Less physical space due to limited size and weight
- Future stability
- Distances of km instead of meters
- Mobility
- Low Latency
We are happy to discuss the applicability of this concept within your projects.
